Format is free-hand, but they generally use various stamps for the weather grid.

We're heading westward and at 13h or 15h the knots and tenths are around 25% higher than at other times. I suspect that the clock is being set back, although I haven't seen any mention of that in the log book.

They do that. Sometimes they set them back by 20 minutes, sometimes by 30 minutes. I've even seen seemingly random numbers of minutes. Sometimes they log the changes, and sometimes they don't, leaving the bewildered voyage calculator to guess.

From some of the logs with the words time and minutes in the same note:

0200: Advanced all clocks 20 minutes to plus eight zone time.
2400: Set back clocks thirty minutes
1200: Extra 40 minutes due to time zone change
1200: Extra 38 minutes due to time zone change

Looking at the sample pages, how come you get to go to nice places like the Bay of Waterfalls and I only get to go to Unalaska?

Methinks that would make an excellent Dockside Gallery subject - if only I had a fitting image!

An early pic of Bay of Waterfalls from 1894, (maybe it should have been called Bay of Waterfall)

4-8am watch
Steaming through pass between Seguam and Amlia islands.
No dangerous tide rips observed, due, no doubt, to favorable wind and tide.

Atka Island, Bay of Nazan:
6-8pm watch
Barometer falling .18 in 4 hours
8-mid watch
Gently SE breeze, rainy and vivid flashes of lightning. No thunder. Barometer falling rapidly
[also .18 in 4 hours]

Midnight to 0400 watch on the following day:
Barometer falling .22 in four hours.

Tide gauge readings, soundings, and surveying continue.

Looks like we are preparing to set up some sort of bases :?:
