That's one of the many cool things about this project - you get to see the same things happening from different perspectives!

Did the Chelan log mention these on August 7 too?
3:30 Received 11 motion picture programs for transfer to U.S.S. SIRIUS at St. Paul Island.
(Above were received from CHELAN).

August is complete. I have reserved September.

The month was spent in Unalaska/Dutch Harbor mostly doing maintenance and training.

Shocking! Surely a quartermaster 1st class should know better.

November 16
9AM to 4PM
Oliver Hall, Q.M. 1c tried by deck court Lieut. Cmdr. L. E. Wells for "Scandalous conduct tending to destruction of good morals," and sentenced to forfeit $40.00 from his pay.

I believe this is the biggest monetary fine I have seen in any of the logs I've transcribed.

Maybe this explains why there has been so few discipline issues on the Haida. The officers must have been very strict.

Not quite as big a fine but one of my guys on the Ashuelot for being a few hours late from leave got loss of 2 months pay, 3 months extra duty and 12 months loss of shore leave in foreign ports.
That was on day 2 after ships commissioning.
They are still playing up and getting up to 30 days in irons and on bread and water. :?

How ever am I going to get them under control before sleepyowl takes over next year.

My previous post should have been September 16 rather than November 16.

Then on September 18:
11:00 Commanding Officer held mast: awarded Oliver Hall, Q.M. 1c, a deck court for neglect of duty.
https://catalog.archives.gov/OpaAPI/med ... 9-0025.JPG

So Randi may be right about his reputation and a $40 fine appears not to have been enough to bring him under control.
