Haida departed for St. Paul Island on May 7 with no further mention of the situation at Squaw Harbor. Hopefully the Coast Guard was able to send help through some other means.

If so, it wasn't Northland. She's the only 1930 Coast Guard ship we've transcribed so far, and she was off California at that time.

There was no mention in the log of other ships at Unalaska while Haida was there. Hopefully there was further communication to coordinate that was not added to the Haida log.

Just finished May 17. The past few days have had the sloppiest log keeping I've seen. Sometimes hourly records while in port, but every four hours while at sea, one log stopped at 4PM, speed and rpm entries with no entries in Course column, and roughly a third of entries reversed for dry and wet bulb temperatures.

I wonder how much of the data entered that appears to be correct, really is. I don't have much confidence in anything this crew entered in the logs.

I've had the same concerns. I did a couple of years in the early 30s, and it was much the same. Fortunately, there are ways they can check the data.
