We did, however, have a den with three wolves living near us, we saw tracks of a Barrenland Grizzly in the snow near our tents, and we saw a wolverine walking across the ice, so we didn't want any wildlife being too attracted to any meat. Daryl was with us for a little while, but he got very sick, not from the food, and he was flown out by a plane that was in our area and dropped in unexpectedly. It was one of only two times that happened in our time there.
Daryl is just over six feet tall, and standing at the bottom of our hole. We were afraid we would hit gravel before we hit water. The ice left the lake on July 4th. Other than Daryl, the three of us spent just over three months there. We were some of the few people on the planet who did not know that men had landed on the moon.
