Great view. I am expecting an atmospheric river to show up- I guess mid-evening. We could use more rain- just not at one time, please.

So, the river showed up about 6:00 am. Not all that hard, we've had 4.6 cm in a little over 2 hours. We are not used to this- and neither are the ducks. I had the usual pair (at least I think of them as the same ducks every year.) showed up in my pond right on schedule third week of January. I feed them chicken laying mash. If I am not out there with food by 8:00 she come looking in the sliding door at me. Well- it is too wet for ducks today- no sign of them. This will be snow at high elevations.

Hope you are staying cool , Stuart.
We are having what some call "Pineapple Express" others, Atmospheric River. I had to dump my little rain gauge we had 4.2 inches of rain since last evening (10.7 cm); the rain gauge only holds 5 inches. Several years not too long ago, 4.2 was the year's total. I have an ornamental pond which I try not to add city water to fill, it falls over the summer. It is nearly full. I captured a couple hundred gallons of rainwater off my roof to fill it faster than it would directly.

I was wondering how much of the storm would get to you, Morgan. Glad to hear you're merely soggy, not totally flooded out. :)

The current temperature, today's high, is 65°F (18°C)!!!
The 'normal' (whatever that really means) is 38°F (3°C).

Wow!!!

Technically, the normal is the average value over the previous thirty year period ending in a year divisible by ten. I.e. the average value of the Daily Maximum temperature for that day from 1991-2020. The trouble is that then normal values shift. I.e. the normal daily max from 1941-1970 is likely lower that the one from 1991-2020.

It's 5° C here and just started snowing hard. Of course at this temperature, it's not sticking. Forecast is for possible rain/snow mix or ice pellets tonight.

That's a little too hot for me. I would prefer -40C to +40C.
