Log pages for transcribing - apply here!

Post by ggordon »

Welcome to the log book of the John Carver 6 May 1884 - 11 Nov 1885.

If you would like to work on a section of the log please
  • leave a note in the next available reply section of this board below
  • remember to say which section you would like to work on
  • a link to the workbook, for your transcriptions, will be provided to you in this board
  • let us know if you would rather work in Excel, LibreCalc, or Google Sheets
Each section of the log must be transcribed by three different transcribers

Where to start once I have my log section and workbook?
Please ensure that you read these information pages before transcribing
1) Transcribing: capturing the log details, and information resources
2) Transcribing: managing your recording workbook

Dates are in the format YYYYMMDD. Links to log book pages are shown in blue. Completed sections are shown in bold.

Date: 27th July 2020. [Note from AvastMH] The logbook image from the National Archives can be a stubborn upload. Most often you can access the image by trying to reload the url link three times. The image reel number for this lobgook is ODHS 979. Please be aware that there is a 'twin logbook' covering the same dates and journey with the reel number ODHS 93 and which we are not transcribing.

*Sections A, B, & C will be the last to be transcribed because there are no ice reports.
Thank you for your help :)

I'll send a link to the file to you via a personal message (PM) to you now with the link.
Make sure that you read through the Shipyard information about her:

Shipyard page. Example transcription, general questions and answers
http://www.oldweatherforum.org/viewtopic.php?p=327#p327

And please do ask any questions about any of the logbook entries and anything about how to transcribe them either here or in a pm. I'm also very happy to check any amount of transcription that you might want to ask about.
