Just up the road from Sea Lake is the sea lake. Lake Tyrrel. As I cannot upload pics here is a link to some.

The "Southern 80" is a ski race that occurs on the Murray river at Echuca / Moama on the second Sunday in February each year. Teams of two skiers travel down the 80km course over 126 bends in speeds excess of 100km per hour. The race categories for the boats are the up to 80MPH and up to 120MPH. The course runs from Torrumbarry weir to bridge at Echuca. (Look at a Google map of the river course.)

We were a bit concerned yesterday as a Catastrophic fire warning was in place for the day. 40c and strong winds with some areas predicted to have dry lightning. ABC news headline yesterday evening. "Half a million Victorians lose power as bushfires, storms wreak havoc".
We only just missed it as it passed through yesterdays stop. We were on the road just north of the red area. Sea Lake is where the top left circle is.

We did a 1 night stop here. Small town, nice caravan park. Sorry the clues are hard but its a small town.

The roadhouse on the highway at xxxx is the first "food and leg-stretch" stop on the bus route from Adelaide to Sydney.
The town's name is derived from a word for "big man" in a local Aboriginal language.
The town has become a major centre for growing potatoes since around 1990.

This stop for 3 nights is famous for its thriving tourism industry. Visitors head here when hiking on the famous Heysen Trail, for whale watching during the winter months, for the region’s wild penguin colony and an iconic Island which features horse-drawn trams which cross the causeway to the island.

Its name was changed a result of a near shipwreck blamed on confusion with Port Victoria on the Yorke Peninsula.
According to the State Library of South Australia, the lack of the "u" is not influenced by American spelling (sorry guys), but archaic English spelling.

The current name of the city?
Its original name of the city?
and the name of the island the causeway leads to?

Victor Harbor (American spelling) has a causeway to Granite Is. It was Port Victor until that mishap.
Looks like a nice 3 day stop. Hope you see whales and penguins!

We were away (Thanks for the concern Randi). Visited sisters in the town where Illinois State University is located and the city of the Abraham Lincoln Museum.

Safe travels, Stuart.

This capital city is famous for never having been a convict city; it was founded and settled entirely by free persons. It offers the best of what you would expect from any large Australian city: great beaches, excellent shopping, eye-catching architecture, delicious cuisine, and a lively night scene.
This state is in a half hour time zone.

Name the city. (Easy)
List two things that this city was first in (in Australia).

Located in this state
Larger than Israel (Slovenia, Montenegro, Cyprus, Luxembourg and Malta, too!), and 8 times larger than the largest ranch in the USA, xxx xxx xxx is the world’s largest working cattle station. At 5.851 million acres, or 23,677 square kilometres, this enormous station is located just 160 km from Coober Pedy.
Name the station.

Just another FYI about South Australia.

The Flinders Ranges and the beginning of life on Earth
Dr Reginald Sprigg, founder of SANTOS and the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, was enjoying his lunch one day in 1946 while working for the SA Government exploring abandoned mines in the Flinders Ranges when he discovered some fossils. At first thought to be of Early Cambrian age, it was later discovered that these fossils are of the oldest complex life ever found on earth, dating back some 600 million years. They resulted in the creation of the Ediacaran Period, the first new geological period to be created in over a hundred and twenty years – just another random South Australia fact we can’t get over!

A couple of pics I took in 2017
