Just wanted to thank Leelaht for inspiring last weekend's trip to Northumberland, I had a great time. The weather was

stupendous

(that's a bit of an exaggeration but I couldn't think of anything else that fits!), although there was a bit of sea fret about. Some did roll in as we were approaching Dunstanburgh which made it rather mystical. Below is a link to a few photo of the castle, I've not tried this before so it may not work!

I wasn't familiar with the term sea fret. Linked to wikipedia article on Haar (fog)

The term haar is

used

along certain lands bordering the North Sea, primarily eastern Scotland and the north-east of England. Variants of the term in Scots and northern English include har, hare, harl, harr and hoar. Its origin is related to Middle Dutch haren, referring to a cold, sharp wind. In Yorkshire and Northumberland it is commonly referred to as a sea roke.

Blumea balsmifera has many uses, in traditional medicine, as a tea, to ward off spirits, as a decorative dried plant, and to flavor foods. But I did not find any mention of it being used as incense to scent the

air.

I guess Blumea balsmifera can be classed as

Irritancy.

noun [ From 1st Irritant .] (Scots Law) The state or quality of being null and void; invalidity; forfeiture. Burrill.

Perhaps we need to find a haunted house and try it on a

ghost

Lets

stage

a seance in the haunted house and see if the Blumea balsmifera does actually work on a ghost.

Maybe we should be a bit careful here. Some people may react badly if their

eternal

rest is disturbed.

We must also be careful that the seance in the haunted house does not lead to an

erotic

situation instead of a haunting one. (At our age that could have severe consequences.)
