It could be they reached their hourly (or daily, or monthly) quota at Google Maps.
Google Maps has different kinds of subscriptions.
The higher the quota, the higher the cost of the subscription is.
Hence their message when you want to view a landmark: to view map click on map icon in bottom toolbar. (we need to reduce the cost for the map views)

Add to the problem all those AI scrapers, and your traffic sky-rockets.
