I tried searching for Bear but with no luck Perhaps her port of registry is the problem?

Ships built on the Tyne and the Tees also have their own sites. Shippingand shipbuilding is intended to cover all the rest, Birkenhead, Barrow, Belfast, Hull etc.

Hello! Would anyone have any resources about the ship prefixes used in 1900? I'm running into some trouble identifying ships as ship prefixes have changed quite a bit in the past 120 years (!) Thanks for any pointers!

I looked just in one logbook, but I saw no Baro or Temperature data.

I've looked into a few of them, don't think I've seen any with temperature data, but a few do have pressure in mb, and a few of them do have a fair amount of ice observations, for example this one looks like it might have some useful data:

I'll send it along to Kevin. It would be very easy to find each occurrence of the word ice in those logs, and extract the position of the ship.

For anyone editing the 19th century logs I came across this site on the French Navy of the period
