Yes
Flat paid off, new kitchen and bath, able to retire at the end of the year, adopt a cat in need of a home, and, of course, her hedgehogs. She had so much to look forward to.

Just been listening to a piece on the sleeping habits of chinstrap penguins (on BBC Radio 4's Inside Science) which made me think of Joan.

I remember her mentioning that to me.
She said that you had been very helpful fixing some things for her.

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
It may sound trite, but using the weapons of the enemy, no matter how good one's intentions, makes one the enemy. -Charles de Lint, writer and folk musician (b. 22 Dec 1951)

Last night we listened to CBC's Alan Maitland's recording of of "The Shepherd" by Frederick Forsyth. It has been played on or shortly before Christmas Eve almost every year since 1979. Apparently, John Travolta and his family have been listening to it for many years. He made a 39 minute movie of the story, which is on Disney. We watched it last evening, but Alan Maitland's reading from 1979 remains the classic. (The Play button is just below the picture of the Mosquito fighter bomber.)

This morning, the other CBC tradition: The 1952 recording of Dylan Thomas reading "A Child's Christmas in Wales." It is available on You-Tube. I highly recommend both recordings. I'm not positing links to Dylan Thomas because they are easy to find.

OW Forum:
Merry Christmas 🎄 everyone, and best wishes for 2024 🎆🎇.

As every year I created an animated Christmas card, which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/2BBbh7OPT8E

Unlike the card, no snow, it's rain, rain, rain and some more rain, with a moderate to sometime strong breeze.
And it isn't just Christmas, already the whole of 2023 is the wettest on record. 🌧☔
