July done. Mostly in Kobe, then left to search for the steamer "Oceanic" - Wikipedia doesn't mention this at all, I'll see if the next month does.

August done. Didn't see any more mentions of the Oceanic, but maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention. Got distracted by other stuff.

As sleepyowl did September, I will jump ahead to October.

October done. She set off for home the long way: Via the Mediterranean and Atlantic!
This month, she went to Sri Lanka and Aden, and is currently in the Red Sea enroute to the Suez Canal.

November done. Through Suez, several nights in Palermo, and onwards to Gibraltar (I presume).

Finished at last! After pit stops in Gibraltar and the Azores, they got back to Boston just in time for New Year's.

The voyage for 1877 has been completed, with many thanks to Hanibal and SleepyOwl. This was not the easiest of logs to transcribe, the handwriting left something to be desired. You can see a plot of the voyage here and, for more detail, you can download the KML file and view it with Google Earth. This voyage set a record for new places reported: 89! Usually I pick up 10-20 new places, depending on where the ship is.

These are the weather statistics for this voyage:
Weather ElementRecords
DirT8743
Kts8727
Baro8742
Attd733
Dry8747
Wet8460
Water1529
Weather8746
Clouds7808
Clear8674
Total70909

Kearsarge travelled a total of 17716 miles.
