Log Pages for Transcribing - Apply here!

Post by AvastMH »

Welcome on board the Mermaid, Steam Bark of San Francisco, on voyage from the 17th March 1896 to 9th November 1896, mastered by David F. Devoll. The logbook is written by Mr WF Joseph (who also kept the log for our California 1894-5 work).

If you would like to work on a section of the log please
  • leave a note in the next available reply section of this board below
  • remember to say which section you would like to work on
  • a link to the workbook, for your transcriptions, will be provided to you by personal message
  • let us know if you would rather work in Excel, LibreCalc, or Google Sheets
  • each section of the log must be transcribed by three different transcribers
Where to start once I have my log section and workbook?
Please ensure that you read these information pages before transcribing
  1. Transcribing: capturing the log details, and information resources
  2. Transcribing: managing your recording workbook
Dates are in the format YYYYMMDD. Links to log book pages are shown in blue

Super! Many thanks Boatsteerer Theo!
I'm just sorting out your workbook. I'll be back soon with it. Get ready to put your winter layers on because you'll be near ice a lot of the time. 😯

Hi Able Seaman Theo - I forgot to ask which format you prefer: Excel, LibreCalc, or Googlesheets - any preferences? They are all the same to me ;) (I dropped you a PM as well - still just to check this).
Oh - there's a mermaid icon...:mermaid:

Hello, daisyk!

I'm sorry to say that this ship is full up! Send me a PM with the spreadsheet file format you prefer and I can set you up with another ship section.

Hi Ron!

First things first: I need to know which file format you prefer to work in because we transcribe into spreadsheets. Your options are Excel, LibreCalc, or Google Sheets. Once I know what format you prefer, I can set you up with some spreadsheet files in your own shared folder and we'll go over how things work.

Welcome aboard!
