1040 Edward A Suslick (217-179) F 2c left ship without permission and visited the Erskine Trading Store where he conducted himself in a very peculiar manner
1045 Edward A. Suslick (217-189) F 2c was returned to the ship under guard and lodged in the ship's brig for safe keeping
1100 A.A. Surgeon J. M. Wolfe U.S.P.H.S. examined Edward A. Suslick (217-179) F 2/c and found him to be suffering with parnonac type dementia precox and recommended that he be kept in the brig for safe keeping.

2400 Officer of the deck carefully instructed quartermaster and anchor watch to watch the patient in the brig on the regular quarter-hourly ship inspections and to aid the guards whenever necessary.

Finished this year, there was some pretty rough weather in the first half of December

Ship departed Seattle in late January, and spend the whole year based at Cordova, operating in the Gulf of Alaska, with a couple of trips a bit further afield, including a week in Haines for the crew to get firearms training and ~1 month spent in Seattle in summer to get some work done, duties appear to mainly have been to provide assistance to the locals and stop illegal fishing.

There were maybe a handful of mentions of ice throughout the year, all of them referencing the Columbia Glacier or ice that had come from it (and judging by Google Maps it's retreated a lot in the last 80 odd years )
