June complete, just in time for the start of my vacation.

I will be gone until July 23rd, and will not do any transcribing during this time, but I will keep the rest of this year reserved to work on when I get back.

July done. Took a while, as they kept travelling around and doing stuff.

It is nice to be back to doing this, though.

August done. Spent some time in Unalaska, then went and picked up survivors of a shipwreck.
Just one month and a few days to go!

September taken care of. Spent time in Unalaska and Dutch Harbor, and their respective bays, doing stuff.
Only October left, but it consists entirely of the trip back to continental USA, so this may take some time.

Also: On the last page, Noon to 4PM watch, they mention sighting a mountain from 78 miles away - is that even possible?
I took a very close look, but there's no sign of a decimal point that would make it 7.8 miles.

I don't know...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Shishaldin
"Elevation 9,373 ft (2,857 m)"
"A very steady steam plume rises from its small summit crater which is about 500 ft (152 m) across and slightly breached along the north rim."

On a very clear day its certainly possible to see that far. Normally at sea level in such a situation you would have the problem of the curvature of the earth blocking what you can see, but putting these numbers into the first earth curvature calculator I could find on google a mountain that tall would still be visible.

Also, looking at a map, and the course they took 78 miles makes more sense than 7.8 miles, 78 miles seems a bit optimistic maybe looking at the map, but not by that much.

The voyage for 1928 has finally been done, thanks to the accurate and complete work by Hanibal. :) :) :)

(I say finally because I was away for three weeks and then had many other duties for another week once I got back...)

You can see a plot of the voyage here. For more detail, you can download the KML file and view it with Google Earth.
